At the same time, a region with fewer psychiatric prescribers also has fewer potential preceptors, and preceptor supply is the real currency of a PMHNP program.

That is the argument for the shared placement model above being more valuable here than the same model would be in a dense coastal metro. School-held site contracts matter most exactly where sites are scarce. It is also the argument for starting your placement conversations early rather than in the term before you need them.
